RisingSun: Are You Educated?

It is attributed to Malcolm Forbes to have said that, "Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one." I totally agree with that.

I believe that the fundamental thing about education is to teach us how to learn, seek knowledge, evaluate with openness, and apply what we learn. It is not an end in itself, though many take it to be.

Being educated doesn't mean you know everything, however far you've gone in academic pursuit. We should all be open to learning each day, because life and everything in it, teach us countless lessons as we go on.

When I ask if you are educated, I don't mean to ask if you know. I am only trying to find out if you know how to know; if your mind has been opened to constant learning, evaluation and growing; because that is the mark of the educated mind.
