And I Paused My Dance To Watch Others

I want to believe that many of you can relate with this. Though mine was at Church, but it could have been any other place where everyone is supposed to be dancing; a party, or any other occasion.

At first I was busy doing my own thing; I mean, dancing to the song my own way. And I loved it however I was going about it. What mattered most was that I was consumed with it, totally enjoying myself and basking in the spirit of the service.

But then, I began to notice the people around me and how they were dancing. I quite got critical about the moves of some persons and got distracted.

I later came back to myself only to realise I had spent a good deal of time just watching and analysing their moves, while not dancing myself.

And there is the deal: WE PAUSE OUR OWN PROGRESS IN LIFE WHEN WE BEGIN TO FOCUS ON OTHERS AND GET CRITICAL ABOUT THEIR OWN LIVES.

In the dance hall of life, we have an option to get consumed by our own dance, working on our moves, and making sure we are having fun while we are at it. We can also decide to “feel” those around us, learn some of each other's steps, and make the moves together while completely enjoying the experience of having dance partners.

But when we settle for the option of being critical, analytical and judgemental of others, we actually pause our own dance, because that's the only way we can be able to afford all the time and attention needed for such unnecessary work.
